Matteus - Matthew 28: 5-6, 10

5 Enkeli kääntyi naisten puoleen ja sanoi: "Älkää te pelätkö. Minä tiedän, että te etsitte ristiinnaulittua Jeesusta.  6 Ei hän ole täällä, hän on noussut kuolleista, niin kuin itse sanoi. 10 Silloin Jeesus sanoi heille: "Älkää pelätkö! Menkää sanomaan veljilleni, että heidän pitää lähteä Galileaan. Siellä he näkevät minut."

5 But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified.

 6 He is not here; for he has been raised, as he said. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.” 

Huhtikuussa humahtaa….

Pääsiäisen suomenkielinen nimitys merkitsee alkuaan paastosta pääsemistä.   Pääsiäinen on kirkkovuoden keskus ja kohokohta, juhlien juhla, kristillisen uskon ydinkohta, jolloin juhlitaan Kristuksen ylösnousemista kuolleista. Kristus on avannut uuden tien ja uuden toivon kuolemasta elämään.
Pääsiäinen on kristillisistä juhlista vanhin ja merkittävin. Varhaisimmat tiedot pääsiäisen vietosta ovat 100-luvulta. Pääsiäistä edeltää palmusunnuntaista alkava hiljainen viikko. Kiirastorstain sisältönä on ehtoollisen asettaminen. Pitkäperjantaina muistetaan Jeesuksen ristinkuolemaa syntien sovitukseksi. Hiljaisena lauantaina muistetaan Jeesuksen haudassa oloa.
Pääsiäinen julistaa Kolmiyhteisen Jumalan rakkauden voittoa pimeyden valloista. Liturginen väri vaihtuu valkoiseen, ilon, puhtauden ja riemun väriin. Pääsiäisyön jumalanpalveluksessa kirkkoon tuodaan suuri pääsiäiskynttilä, jota sytytettäessä lausutaan: Jeesus Kristus on maailman valo. Tämä valo johdattaa meitä kohti uusia tapahtumia ja Jumalan rakkaina lapsina kuljemme rohkeasti eteenpäin!

April showers bring May flowers…

Easter is the very centre and the climax of the church year. It is truly a celebration of life and joy! We celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It means that risen Christ has opened us a new way and new hope from death to life.

Easter is also the oldest of the Christian celebrations going back all the way to the second century when both the death and the resurrection were a one celebration. Good Friday dates back to the 4^th century. 

“Christ is risen! Shout Hosanna! Celebrate this day of days!  Christ is risen! Hush in wonder;  all creation is amazed.  In the desert all-surrounding, see,  a spreading tree has grown.  Healing leaves of grace abounding bring a taste of love unknown.” ELW 383

Easter is all about new life in Christ. New life indeed! We can embrace this new life in so many ways. As the winter gives away to spring and summer, recharging our “batteries”, Christ is recharging our spiritual life with His resurrection!

We have many exciting things happening this year and with God’s help we can achieve many things. Without God’s life-giving Word and Love we could not do anything. 
May God’s unconditional love be with you all during the Easter Season!
