He paused at the manger outside the church, he looked at it, tilted his head and said to his dad, “Hey, it’s the same Jesus we had last year. Can’t we get a new Jesus?” The father smiled and knelt next to his son and said, “Son, we get the same Jesus every year. That’s how it works.” Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow, even if in our own mind Jesus might look different. The important thing about Christmas is that God comes to us, unchanged. Christmas is the celebration of Jesus into our midst: into the darkness, bringing the light of peace amid hustle and bustle, into our reality, as a human, as one of us.
